THE OVERVIEW

Georgia is the most structurally sensible MBBS destination for Kerala students who cannot afford Russia's top-tier universities but want a European degree. Total six-year cost typically lands around ₹20–30 lakhs all-in, the country is politically stable, the Indian community in Tbilisi and Batumi is growing, and a handful of universities are NMC-screened. That combination is rare.

The non-negotiable rule for Georgia: check the NMC list BEFORE you pay anything. Not every Georgian medical university is on the Indian NMC's list of eligible foreign medical qualifications — and 'WHO listed' is not the same as 'NMC eligible'. We verify both at the time of application, because the list can shift between intakes and agents will happily send you to universities that are not cleared.

Beyond MBBS, Georgia has become one of the better BSc Nursing destinations for Kerala students who cannot clear IELTS. The clinical rotations are real, the English-medium instruction is real, and several universities offer direct entry with 50%+ in 12th. Settlement options after graduation are limited in Georgia itself, but the degree is a clean bridge to UK, Germany or GCC nursing roles.

READ THIS TWICE

  • NMC recognition varies by university AND by year — always verify the current list before paying any fee.
  • Clinical-year instruction often shifts to Georgian — basic language learning is not optional, it is mandatory for patient interaction.

HARD QUESTIONS — Georgia

Is a Georgian MBBS degree NMC recognized? +

Some universities are on the NMC's eligible list; others are not. This is not a yes/no question at the country level — it is a university-by-university question, and the answer can change each year. We verify NMC eligibility for your chosen university before the application goes in, not after you pay tuition.

Do I need IELTS for Georgia? +

For MBBS in most Georgian medical universities, no — an MOI letter or 12th English marks is usually enough. For BSc Nursing, Georgia is one of the few European countries that admit students without IELTS. This is the single biggest reason Gradiks sends Kerala nursing students here.

Do I have to learn Georgian? +

Yes, at least the basics. Your first two or three years are in English, but from year 4 onward your clinical rotations happen in Georgian hospitals with Georgian-speaking patients. Students who skipped language classes in the pre-clinical years regretted it by year 4. Treat it as coursework, not optional.

Can I settle in Georgia after graduation? +

Limited. Georgia is not an EU country and its work visa and PR pathway for foreign graduates is modest. Most of our nursing students use the Georgian degree as a stepping stone to UK NHS, German Anerkennung, or GCC hospital roles — not to stay in Georgia long-term. Plan the exit route on day one.
